In a series of royal decrees, published by the Saudi state news agency, the monarch stripped Crown Prince Mohammed bin Nayef of his position. Prince Mohammed bin Salman, the new crown prince, will become the kingdom’s deputy prime minister while retaining his control of the Defense Ministry and other portfolios. Even as deputy crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman — popularly known as MBS — was given immense powers by his father.
