In 2012, the first case of Middle East Respiratory Syndrome caused by the MERS coronavirus was identified in Saudi Arabia. “Since the (monkeypox) virus is transmitted from human to human, all necessary arrangements should be implemented,” he said. However, it is unlikely to be distributed in Saudi Arabia unless it is required to protect the most vulnerable, such as children, the elderly and the immunocompromised.
