The Kingdom also reiterated that it welcomed the Egyptian initiative that sought to achieve a political solution and stop fighting and bloodshed, calling on all Libyan parties to cooperate to find an acceptable solution and a political settlement that restores security and stability to Libya. He said the kingdom supports the important role played by the United Nations in promoting mediation efforts and diplomacy to resolve the region’s conflicts by peaceful means. He urged the international community to stand firmly against provocative policies of the Israeli occupation authorities in the occupied Palestinian territories and disrespected Security Council resolutions. “Saudi Arabia appreciates the Council’s condemnation of the brutal terrorist attacks by Houthi militia on civilians and civilian sites in the kingdom and condemns its continued threat to the lives of civilians,” he said.
