Saso, the reigning US Women's Open champion, got off to a good start as she finished a bogey free round with four birdies. Saso, who shares the third spot with five others, is four strokes behind leader Ko Jin-Young of South Korea, who fired an eight-under 63 in the first round. Meanwhile, Dottie Ardina, the other Filipino golfer in the tournament, scored an even-par 71 to place at joint 56th.
