Picture by UB Photos Guwahati, Feb. 21: Assam education minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today said he would ask chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal to relieve him of the portfolio. The Board of Secondary Education, Assam, which conducts the matric exam, has postponed the social science exam to March 11. Sarma's wish for resignation is, however, not directly related to yesterday's incident. Keeping students' interest in mind, I am thinking of requesting chief minister Sonowal to relieve me of the education portfolio," Sarma, who holds at least nine portfolios, said. They said yesterday's incident was a deliberate attempt to malign the state's public education system.
