Sarawak teacher remanded over alleged rape of female student


PETRA JAYA: A secondary school teacher arrested for allegedly raping a student has been remanded for seven days beginning today. Police obtained the remand order against the suspect, 51, when he was produced at the magistrate’s court here this morning. Magistrate Zulhairil Sulaiman ordered the suspect to be remanded to facilitate investigation into the case. It was reported that the teacher was arrested at his house in Tapah, Siburan following a police report lodged by the victim’s mother about 5pm yesterday. The victim, a Form 2 student, related her ordeal to the school’s counseling teacher, who later informed the teenager’s parents.
