Sarawak rabies outbreak sees 12th serious infection - Nation

KUCHING: A farmer from Sri Aman is the 12th person to be infected by rabies in Sarawak. Health Ministry director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the 49-year-old man was bitten by his pet dog in January this year and did not seek treatment. According to Dr Noor Hisham, the patient's dog, which mixed freely with stray dogs, died a week after biting him. "He is healthy and will be monitored by the State Health Department for six months," he added. Ten people have died from rabies in Sarawak since the outbreak began last year, while another victim is being treated at home with neurological complications.
