Sarawak police nab 31 in illegal gambling crackdown

KUCHING: Police arrested 31 people during a state-wide crackdown on illegal gambling premises last week. Sarawak Criminal Investigation Department chief Datuk Dev Kumar said those nabbed, including seven women, were arrested for their alleged involvement in illegal lottery (4D) and cyber gambling. “We raided 26 premises for operating illegal 4D, which resulted in the arrest of 28 people. “Apart from illegal 4D, raids were conducted at counters where cyber gambling reload services were offered, in Mukah, Limbang and Lawas,” Dev said. He added that the raid on online gambling premises resulted in the arrests of three men and the confiscation of six mobile phones used for cyber gambling reloads.
