Saradha case: Supreme Court asks CBI to produce evidence against Rajeev Kumar

Telegraph pictureThe Supreme Court on Tuesday asked the CBI to present evidence for seeking custodial interrogation of former Calcutta Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar, who was earlier heading the West Bengal Police SIT probing the Saradha cash deposit mobilising scheme. The bench asked Mehta to bring evidence to show that Kumar was remotely involved in destruction or disappearance of evidence in the cash deposit mobilising scheme. Mehta told the court that he will file the evidence against Kumar by Wednesday. The court was hearing CBI's application in which the agency was seeking custodial interrogation of Kumar on grounds that he had given evasive replies during questioning.
