MANILA, Philippines – Six months after, Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio remained Senator Panfilo Lacson’s top choice to be the country’s next president. “I said this before, sometime in August last year and I’ll say it again – speaking of Mayor Sara Duterte, if the next leader of our country would emerge from the young, fresh, and new faces in national politics, my top choice right now is Sara Duterte,” the senator said in a text message on Tuesday. “Nobody has declared, not even Mayor Sara, so it may sound presumptuous, even improper for me to throw my support or endorse her,” added Lacson when asked anew if he would support Sara’s possible presidential run in 2022.
