MANILA, Philippines — Presidential daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara “Inday” Duterte-Carpio on Saturday said she is not interested in running for a national post next year. In a video report from ABS-CBN News, Sara — the eldest daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte — said the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino-Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban) offered her a slot, but she refused to accept it. “Last night, I was informed that PDP is reserving one slot for me but I told them categorically last night I’m not interested to run for senator,” Sara said. The younger Dutere’s refusal to run under the administration ticket and seek a seat at the Senate next year came despite her strong survey numbers. Speaking to Filipino community in Jordan early this month, Duterte said he hopes Sara, whom he described as the “alpha” of his family, could fulfill his unmet promises once he steps down.
