Update by the edhat staff10:30 a.m., November 8, 2024As of Friday morning, the Santa Lucia Fire is 70% contained at 130 acres. The southbound transition from Highway 1 at Santa Lucia Canyon Road is still closed due to brush fire activity in the region. The Santa Barbara County Fire Department reported the Santa Lucia Fire has reached 130 acres. Responders received a call around 12:15 p.m. Thursday and arrived at the intersection of SR-1 and Santa Lucia Canyon Road. Nearby Maple High School is currently evacuating students by bus to Cabrillo High School.
