After his big win as Best Director for Bajirao Mastani at the 2016 IIFA awards, Sanjay Leela Bhansali preferred to keep tight-lipped when questioned about his next project on Queen of Chittor Padmavati. Speaking about his win, Bhansali said that this award happened after a long time which makes him feel wonderful. Prakash Kapadia, who scripted Bajirao Mastani, has reportedly been roped in to write Padmavati. Said to be based on tyrant emperor Alauddin Khilji's obsession for Padmavati, the queen of Chittor, the movie will see Bajirao Ranveer as Khilji and Mastani Deepika as the queen. Bhansali had earlier directed an opera of the same name and theme, which was widely appreciated in Paris.
