Sanford’s unaudited profit has come under pressure from a drop in overseas demand and difficulties with its catch. Fishing company Sanford has released a preliminary full year result, showing that its net profit has almost halved as it battles Covid-related complications. Sanford’s unaudited net profit was $22.4 million, down 46 per cent on the previous year to September 30. The company said its earnings had been particularly affected by the pandemic’s effect on its markets, particularly food service. Sanford confirmed it was not one of the fishing companies which have flown in foreign fishing workers to help keep their deep sea trawlers running.
