Because of this, the Sandiganbayan issued a resolution dated May 17, 2019 granting Varela’s application for probation. “The probation shall be for a period of four years, to be counted from petitioner’s initial report for supervision,” the resolution read. “He shall secure a written permit to travel outside the jurisdiction of the Parole and Probation Office from the Chief Probation and Parole Officer and from the Court if such travel exceeds 30 days,” it added.
