Samsung ordered to pay Apple over £400 MILLION for 'blatently' copying the design of its phones

Could not subscribe, try again later Invalid EmailSamsung has been handed an order to pay Apple $539 million (£403 million) in damages after a US jury decided its phones had copied the design of the iPhone. Although previous rulings have determined that the South Korean manufacturer should pay up, the amount of the damages hadn't been decided on. While Apple says the company should pay over a billion dollars, Samsung has argued that a more realistic figure is around $28 million (£20 million). "Today’s decision flies in the face of a unanimous Supreme Court ruling in favour of Samsung on the scope of design patent damages," Samsung said in a statement. "Apple ignited the smartphone revolution with iPhone and it is a fact that Samsung blatantly copied our design."
