NewNet is a leading provider of infrastructure and services in rich communications services (RCS), a technology format that spans various platforms. RCS works like other messaging services such as WhatsApp and iMessage, but allows communication beyond the circle of users of a specific app. The technology would allow users “to communicate on any network”, it added. Earlier this year, Samsung acquired Canadian advertising firm Adgear, as well as the US firms Joyent, a cloud services start-up; household appliances producer Dacor. The South Korean company has also acquired start-up Viv Labs, which develops digital assistants for smart phones and other devices.
