NewsThe wording and timing of the No-Confidence Motion (NCM) against the Prime Minister is indicative of a political agenda, Opposition Leader and Leader of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) Parliamentary Group, R. Sampanthan told Parliament today. Speaking during the debate on the NCM against the PM, Mr Sampanthan questioned as to where was the evidence of the Prime Minister's involvement in the bond scam per se. He also questioned as to the timing of the NCM, pointing out that the scam occurred three years ago and it has been very much in the public eye since then. "Therefore the motion lacks credibility," the Opposition Leader opined. He also said the TNA suspected that the NCM against the PM may be a the first step in a plan to bring about the total and complete fall of the current Government.
