Samoa measles outbreak: Non-vaccinated told to tie red flag to their homes


The Samoan Government is ordering locals to pin a red cloth to the front of vulnerable homes as the country battles a measles epidemic. Chris McKeen A mobile vaccination team traveled to the small village of Lalomanu to immunise Samoans against the spread of measles. A State of Emergency order released on Wednesday morning said the red marker would make it easier for teams to identify at risk homes. During the shutdown Samoan locals are urged to stay at home and let mobile vaccinators to come to them. Vital public services will remain open including the hospital, morgue, emergency services, search and rescue, police, security, shipping, civil aviation, Government communication services, Samoa utility services, National Emergency Operations, petrol stations for those working to vaccinate.
