Sammi Awuku said happenings during the proceedings at the Supreme Court could lure them to make certain comments that could land them in trouble. In the 2012 election petition, Sammi Awuku, then a Deputy Communications Director of the NPP, narrowly escaped the wrath of the Court and from being thrown into jail for contempt. The Court, presided over by Justice William Atuguba, however, barred Mr. Awuku, who had been attending the hearings, from coming to court until the case was over. The then Deputy Communications Director was said to have made unsavoury comments against the Court, during a political programme on Peace FM.
