"The history records will not be merciful to anyone who encouraged participation in the farcical election, which is considered an insult to the Egyptian people," wrote Abdel Azim on Twitter.Sabry said in his statement, "This is not the first time that Hazem has come out with such statements. What he said is an explicit call to boycott the presidential election and destabilize the country.”He continued to say that Abdel Azim is known to antagonize the state. He escaped from the country and used channels hostile to the government as a platform to attack the state, its institutions and the president. Sabry has called for an in investigation into the incident and has referred Abdel Azim to the criminal prosecution.In July 2011, Abdel Azim was nominated as minister of communications and information technology; however, he was soon dismissed. Prior to this, he was appointed as senior advisor to the minister of communications and information technology for development affairs, which he held since May 2007.
