Samhuinn Festival returns to Edinburgh with 'thousands' expected

The charity has promised an immersive festival with ‘magnificent’ fire-play and acrobatics, as well as a cavalcade of other-world creatures to celebrate the ‘epic battle’ between summer and winter. Tickets for the event can be bought online and cost £8 for adults and £6 for under 18s, with gates opening at 6.45pm and ending 10pm. “This year’s reimagining of the battle between Summer and Winter is embodied in two Warrior Queens, drawn from Norse and Celtic mythology. As they move through the Festival they meet acrobats, musicians, fire-wielders, and more - building their forces for the explosive moments when they meet and challenge each other. It has been held in Edinburgh since 1995, with its summer counterpart, Beltane, taking place on Calton Hill on the last day of April each year.
