Salvation Army donation kettles stolen at Placerville Walmart

• Theft sets nonprofit back by at least $500 in equipment and even more in lost donationsThe Salvation Army of Placerville is asking for the public’s help after someone stole two red donation kettles, kettle stands and Salvation Army bells and aprons from Walmart on Missouri Flatt Road. The kettles did not contain donations but will cost the Salvation Army at least $500 to replace. While police investigate this crime, Salvation Army fundraising organizers hope the public can keep an eye out for the stolen kettles, so no one takes advantage of unsuspecting donors. “We’re worried someone may try to set up these stolen kettles, impersonate the Salvation Army and collect donations for themselves,” said Joye Storey, Salvation Army Service extension director. In Placerville, the Salvation Army provides emergency assistance with lodging, utilities, groceries and referrals to local community services.
