Breaking, as they say:www.cnn.com/...As of the time I posted this diary, the article contained more details about Rushdie’s professional history—particularly the controversy over his work, Satanic Verses and how it angered the Iranians so much they put a fatwa on him—than it does about the incident, itself. What’s known is Rushdie is alive and in the hospital, that he was attacked while being introduced on stage at a western NY event about free expression and artists in exile, that the attacker was part of the audience, and that a state trooper took the attacker into custody. I doubt I’ll update this diary with additional details, even though I’m sure they will roll in. I posted about what happened because I didn’t see anything about it on here at the time, and the only thing I have to say about the incident that the linked article doesn’t already is that it’s horrible.
