After the CB-CID top brass inspected the Egmore railway station on Thursday, investigating officers have compiled a shortlist of 30 persons who will be interrogated in more detail to crack the robbery on the Salem–Chennai Express. The case was first transferred to the Government Railway Police and later, to the CB-CID on Wednesday night. According to a senior police official, initially, 60 persons — including employees of the private parcel company — were interrogated. The train robbery case was initially investigated by the Railway Protection Force (RPF). In the evening, two senior officials visited the scene with welding experts and inspected the broken roof of the parcel van, sources said.
