Sale of Catlins station for forestry approved

Overseas Investment Office approval has been granted for the sale of Wisp Hill Station in the Catlins. Mr Patterson said sales of farmland for carbon farming were "a trickle that threatens to turn into a flow". It was now $60-$70 and could hit $100, Mr Patterson said. It was important to separate out carbon forestry from production forestry as there were "any amount of opportunities" for less productive land to be planted in trees for production forestry, Mr Patterson said. But with carbon forestry, it was simply "a money-go-round".
