Sajeda Chowdhury’s motorcade attacked

A large mob, led by a local Awami League leader, attacked the motorcade of Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury MP, the deputy leader of parliament, in Faridpur on Friday afternoon. Hundreds of people attacked the motorcade with bricks and local weapons at the Talma intersection in the district’s Nagarkanda upazila around 2:30pm, Nagarkanda Police Station Officer-in-Charge ASM Nasim told the Dhaka Tribune. Police fired 10 rounds of rubber bullets to disperse the mob, and eventually the motorcade was able to move. Sajeda had safely reached her home in Rasulpur village, OC Nasim said. Jamal Hossain told the Dhaka Tribune over phone that he had nothing to do with the incident.
