A group of mainly Muslim parents have been protesting at Anderton Park Primary because they do not want their kids taught about the LGBT community. As a parent of primary school kids and as a Muslim, I find their actions ­offensive and totally out of touch with modern British values. “Parents need to have the final say on what they want their ­children to know,” she blasted. Lessons need to reflect modern society, so children know about different types of families, and teachers can answer ­questions on what “lesbian” and “gay” means. My Muslim parents, who came to this country from a remote village in the Himalayas, arrived with their own limited points of view, with fear and ignorance.
