HYDERABAD: Saina Nehwal defied odds to oust former world champion Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand 17-21, 21-18, 21-12 in the first round of the Indonesia Open Super Series Premier in Jakarta on Tuesday. PV Sindhu downed Pornpawee Chochuwong of Thailand 21-12, 21-19 to join Saina in the second round. And at 14-10, she came up with a five-point burst to outclass the world No.8.In the second round, Saina will face Nitchaon Jindapol, who trounced Kim Hyo Min of Korea 21-16, 21-14. Saina has never lost to the Thai girl in seven meetings.After an easy first round, Sindhu will face a challenging opponent in Beiwen Zhang of USA in the second. Sindhu enjoys a 3-0 win-loss record against Zhang.The tournament witnessed the biggest upset as world and Olympic champion Carolina Marin suffered a shock loss to world No.33 Chen Xiaoxin of China.
