Safaricom intends to launch tokenised Wi-Fi and pay-as-you-go broadband alternatives within the next month in an effort to extend fixed internet connections beyond affluent homes and companies. Safaricom plans to roll out tokenised Wi-Fi. "We want to launch tokenISed Wi-Fi in late Januarya or early February 2026. Kenya's total number of fixed internet subscriptions rose from 2.14 million to 2.29 million in the three months to September 2025, a rise of 147,150. Safaricom added 79,288 fixed internet customers over the review period, increasing its market share from 34.3% in June 2025 to 35.6%.
