Safaricom clarifies position on call records


Chege said that the company, upon appearing in court, complied with a directive to provide IMEI history, subscriber data, and M-Pesa records of the three victims. Safaricom however said that some of the requests that have been made by the LSK involve information beyond its control. The court granted the request and set the continuation of the proceedings for Tuesday, July 12 for the prosecution and the defense to present their submissions on the points of disagreements as concerns the phone data records. Safaricom has moved to clarify that it has fully complied with a court order to provide the court with phone call records in the murder case of lawyer Willie Kimani, his client Joseph Mwendwa and taxi driver Joseph Muiruri. He said that Safaricom will continue with its spirit of assisting in investigations like it has done in previous crimes where network information was requested.
