Safaricom Ethiopia announced a hefty investment of USD 1.5 billion to build 5,000 new telecom towers across the country over the next three years. "We are excited to expand our network footprint and enhance connectivity," said Wim Vanhelleputte, CEO of Safaricom Ethiopia. "This significant investment underscores our commitment to bridging the digital divide and propelling economic growth in Ethiopia." Currently, Safaricom Ethiopia operates 2,500 towers, with a mix of self-built structures and those leased from the national operator, ethio telecom. Safaricom Ethiopia's network expansion aims to not only increase coverage and capacity but also provide access to advanced mobile and digital financial services.
