Sadio Mane was named African Player of the Year with Mohamed Salah runner-up, while Virgil van Dijk finished as runner-up to Lionel Messi in both the Ballon d'Or and FIFA's The Best . And now five of Jurgen Klopp's men have taken their place in the UEFA Fans' Team of the Year alongside Europe's best talents. Unsurprisingly after such an impressive 12 months, the Reds are the team with the most players in the XI which was selected by fans from across Europe. Liverpool also provide the backbone of the defence, with Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Andrew Robertson all selected alongside Juventus defender Matthijs de Ligt, who was one of the Ajax's bright young things last term.
