PCC chief Sachin Pilot is not averse to contesting Ajmer Lok Sabha bypoll necessitated by the death of the incumbent Sanwarmal Jat. Although Pilot is seen as potential CM candidate, during his recent visit he hinted that if the party high command decides, he would not shy away from this responsibility. Pilot, who has served the Ajmer constituency as an MP(2009-14), replying to a hypothetical question whether he would contest or not, said, “Unfortunately, Ajmer MP Sanwarmal Jat passed away. However, sources say such a statement not only oozes of confidence but also sends a clear signal to the party high command that the Congress can win this election even if Jat’s death has created sympathy in BJP’s favour. Whenever the election is held, the development will be only the agenda, added Pilot, giving an open challenge to the BJP government.
