Sabarimala case: Constitution bench to hear review petitions on 6 February

NEW DELHI: A constitution bench of the Supreme Court is likely to hear on Wednesday a batch of review petitions challenging its ruling allowing entry of women of all ages into Sabarimala temple. The hearing was to take place on 22 January but was delayed as one of the judges was on leave. The review will be heard by the same constitution bench that issued the September ruling, with the exception of Chief Justice of India (CJI) Ranjan Gogoi, who replaced former CJI Dipak Misra on the bench after his retirement. The bench will, accordingly, comprise CJI Ranjan Gogoi and Justices R.F Nariman, A.M. Khanwilkar, D.Y. A total of 49 review petitions challenging the entry of women into the Sabarimala temple in Kerala are before the top court.
