KOTA KINABALU: Sabah medical facilities and health caregivers are overstretched as the state grapples with daily three-digit rise in Covid-19 cases. Doctors, nurses and medical support services continue to struggle while authorities scramble to set up “extension” wards outside hospitals. There are also fresh calls for donations of medical equipment to the dedicated Covid-19 hospitals. The extensions were set aside for Covid-19 patients with less serious symptoms to ease the pressure on intensive care units and Covid-19 wards at the dedicated hospitals, said a local health official.
