Photo: Ray RyanSTUDENTS OF SCIENCENorth Galway science students aim to impress at BTYSTENORTH Galway’s representation in this year’s BT Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition remains strong as always with four local schools aiming to claim top awards in the prestigious competition. Dunmore Community School, High Cross College, Presentation College Athenry and Presentation College Headford will all send students to the RDS next week to participate in the annual exhibition that showcases the finest young scientific minds across the island of Ireland. Ellen Gilmore, Jack Mannix and Conor Maloney are Transition Year students in Dunmore who have investigated the link between sleep deprivation on cognitive function and social behaviour in teenagers. Explaining their Lights Out project, the team said they were inspired by the effect staying up late had on them during their Junior Cert exams.
