The road march began at the Central Shaheed Minar in Rangpur and travelled towards the Teesta barrage. SPB leader Khallekuzzaman, Rajekuzzaman Ratan, CPB leader Bazlur Rashid Firoz, and Language Movement veteran Mohammad Afzal were among the speakers. The protesters said the barrage had resulted in parts of the Teesta River drying up, and this had severely impacted the area of land where crops could be grown. They demanded that the Bangladesh government swiftly resolve the issue through discussions with their Indian counterparts.
