Pix by Mohd Fadli HamzahPUTRAJAYA: All Land Public Transport Commission (SPAD) service counters are still operating as normal, although Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has dissolved the commission. Transport Minister Anthony Loke said any application for licence submitted by the public should be accepted and processed by SPAD. “SPAD operations will run like normal because the announcement to dissolve SPAD does not mean that the commission will immediately shut down its operations,” he said after visiting the Road Safety Department (JKJR) today. Yesterday (Thursday), Loke was reported saying about 800 SPAD permanent staff would be absorbed into the Road Transport Department , which had about 1,000 vacancies. In this respect, he said SPAD staff should not be worried about the commission dissolution as they would not be jobless.
