My parents hauled me at age 13 to see Sammy Davis, Jr. at the Oakland Arena. Rolls Royce pulls up, Sammy Davis Jr driving! The people camping at Zephyr Cove had begun to stop his car and ask for autographs. We crowd into the back seat... then he stops again for the crowd getting autographs, many of whom we know. His manager pulls out an envelope and tears it into four pieces.
