Scotland's environmental agency brutally rebuked an SNP-led council for suggesting that it was at fault for a failure to open floodgates. Perth and Kinross Council was roundly criticised for a delay in utilising flood prevention equipment in North Inch, near the River Tay, leading to homes and businesses being damaged by water. This angered Sepa bosses, who the Scottish Daily Express can now reveal requested an immediate summit with council officials where they strongly rebuked them. Perth and Kinross council did apologise in November for its delay in closing floodgates, with chief executive Thomas Glen saying that lessons had to learned from its response. Perth and Kinross Council said it was told about increased waterflow on Saturday evening but there was no risk of flooding.
