Can fashion ever be too shocking? Last fall Duran Lantink, one of fashion’s favorite cult provocateurs, showed his first collection for the legendary house of Jean Paul Gaultier. The response was shock and confusion: journalists and online commentators accused Lantink of sexism and of betraying the legacy of Gaultier himself.
