STORMWATER Management and Road Tunnel (SMART) has reopened the SMART Tunnel at 6.37pm this evening following a major clean-up work that was undertaken in the aftermath of Thursday's downpour (Sept 10). The 3km double-deck motorway was closed to traffic at 4pm on Thursday to divert flood water to the tunnel following its "Mode 4" activation. A spokesman of the company said initially the tunnel was supposed to be closed until Monday to facilitate clean-up work, but they managed to complete work ahead of schedule. Kuala Lumpur was hit by flash floods on Thursday afternoon following heavy rains, which submerged cars in some areas and fell several trees.
