Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is examining the Hamilton Police Service’s involvement in a fatal collision that took place Wednesday Morning. “The SIU invoked its mandate to investigate the conduct and actions of the police officers involved,” a spokesperson told the Star. According the SIU, officers responded to an emergency call at around 9 a.m. near King St. East and Gage Ave. South. Allegedly a male driver from one of the involved vehicles fled the scene but was located by officers in two cruisers before he fled again. Shortly after the first incident the same driver was involved in another collision with another vehicle at Balsam and Maplewood Aves.
