The Madhya Pradesh government has decided to put on hold the cash rewards it had earlier announced for the police personnel who had participated in the alleged encounter killing of eight SIMI activists. A highly-placed official on Saturday said, "After the announcement of judicial probe into the incident, the government cannot give cash rewards to anyone till the completion of the inquiry." He had made the announcement on the occasion of the state's Foundation Day on November 1, a day after the alleged encounter of the SIMI men. However, rights activists had demanded withholding the cash reward. The state government has ordered a judicial probe into the sensational jail-break and the alleged encounter.
