SHIFTING ALLIANCES: Kitui politicians to back Uhuru in 2017 elections

Two Kitui politicians have affirmed that the county will vote for President Uhuru Kenyatta in 2017. During his tour, Uhuru launched the Sh2.2 billion phase two of the Masinga-Kitui pipeline project, officially opened the Nuu Technical and Vocational training College. The vote hunting foray targeted over 300,000 residents, as the Jubilee leaders sought to establish development projects in Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's home turf. In a last minute move, Kalonzo shelved plans to accompany Uhuru during the tour as he had received no invitation. At the weekend, the President and his deputy, William Ruto, went on a three-day tour of Machakos, Makueni and Kitui counties.
