KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday asked the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) to file comments on a petition against the conduct of fresh tests for admissions in the government-run medical colleges. A bench of the SHC comprising Justice Aqeel Ahmed Abbasi and Justice Arshad Hussain Khan resumed the hearing of the constitutional petition number 7852/2017. Durin the course of proceedings, the deputy attorney general submitted that the issue at hand has been decided by another SHC bench comprising Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Omar Siyal. The PMDC by virtue of Regulations 2016 has decided the admission criteria, fee structure and refund of fee, which private medical colleges have failed to comply with, the counsel contended, adding that under the law, PMDC is supposed to keep an eye on such violations. Meanwhile, the court directed the PMDC lawyer to file their comments and adjourned the case till January 16 next year.
