SHC grants bail to PTI leader in two cases

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday granted bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Sindh Assembly Opposition Leader Haleem Adil Sheikh in two cases related to violence, firing, attempt to murder, and causing terror during a by-election. The court ordered him to deposit surety bonds worth Rs.0.2 million in each case. The high court on March 13 issued notices to the Sindh prosecutor general and others to file their responses on the petition. During the hearing, the defense claimed his client was booked in the cases on the directives of Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, adding that he was subjected to vengeful action on being nominated as opposition leader. Sheikh approached the SHC after an anti-terrorism court had rejected his bail requests.
