Motorists travelling to and from the Far North this morning are being warned that State Highway 1 will be closed south of Kawakawa while a crashed truck is removed. The New Zealand Transport Agency said the emergency closure was expected to take place about 10am and would affect traffic in both directions. It was likely the highway would be closed for half an hour though it could be longer if there were unexpected difficulties removing the truck. An NZTA spokeswoman apologised for the inconvenience and said the agency would work as quickly as possible to remove the truck and reopen the highway.
