SEA Games bus driver jailed after failing to pay RM20,400 in traffic fines - Nation


SHAH ALAM: A bus driver who was employed to ferry the Malaysia hockey squad for the SEA Games has to serve 182 days in jail after he failed to pay more than RM20,000 in fines. Magistrate P. Sarulatha fined R. Krishnan a total of RM20,400 for 19 counts of traffic-related offences after he pleaded guilty to the charges on Thursday. Krishnan, who was unrepresented, did not pay the fine and was taken to Kajang Prison. He was charged with eight counts for not having a driving licence, and four counts each for not having a valid road tax and insurance. She said that Krishnan was employed as the driver for the Malaysian hockey squad at the SEA Games but the offences he had committed were not related to the job at the Games.
